Dry sauna
Dry sauna in Batam: custom cabins for homes and villas
A 70-90 degree timber cabin with a 3.6-9 kW heater, built to the room you already have rather than to a catalogue size.
A dry sauna Batam project is a timber cabin held at 70-90 degrees and 10-20 per cent humidity, built for families, villa owners and hotel health clubs. Indicative IDR 60-120 million for a 2x2 m four-person room, two to four weeks on site once material lands. Full price tables are public.

What does a dry sauna in Batam have to survive?
Two things: humidity between 73 and 96 per cent, and air that carries salt. A cabin built like a plywood box looks fine for a season and then starts to smell. Ours is a sandwich - lining panel, 50 mm rockwool, an aluminium foil vapour barrier taped at every seam, a 20 mm ventilation gap, then the cladding. The foil keeps the room's own moisture out of the insulation and the gap lets the wall dry between sessions.
Inside we use western red cedar, Scandinavian spruce or thermowood, with aspen or abachi benches because neither turns painfully hot against bare skin. Ulin and bengkirai are excellent island hardwoods but they belong outdoors, on a deck or a step, never on a bench.

Which cabins do Nongsa, Sukajadi and Tiban actually order?
Three patterns repeat. Villa owners along the Nongsa coast want four to six seats with a glazed front toward the pool, usually thermowood and usually paired with a plunge. Cluster households in Sukajadi, Batam Centre and Orchard Park take the 2x2 m four-person cabin in red cedar with a 6 kW heater, which fits a spare bedroom without touching the structure. Older houses in Tiban and Sekupang have the floor area but not the supply, so they take the two-person 1.5x1.2 m cabin at 3.6 kW.
- 2 people, 1.5x1.2 m, 3.6 kW, pinewood - indicative IDR 55-70 million.
- 4 people, 2x2 m, 6 kW, red cedar - indicative IDR 75-95 million.
- 6 people, 2.4x2 m, 8 kW, thermowood - indicative IDR 110-150 million.
Electricity: what a 6 kW heater asks of PLN Batam
Most cluster houses on the island are connected at 2,200 or 5,500 VA, which is comfortable for air conditioning and a rice cooker and little else. A 6 kW heater needs 7,700 VA, an 8-9 kW heater wants 11,000 VA, and club-sized cabins move to three phase. PLN Batam is a separate utility with its own tariff and its own upgrade procedure, and the upgrade fee is paid by the owner; we simply tell you which tier a given size implies before you commit.
The wiring is ours: heat-resistant SiHF cable from the consumer unit to the heater, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB, with the run kept clear of the insulation. Where an upgrade is genuinely impossible, a rented apartment in Nagoya for instance, the honest answer is an infrared cabin at 1.7-2.4 kW rather than an undersized hot room.
How long does a dry sauna Batam build take?
Two to four weeks on site for a home cabin, plus one to two weeks while heater, glass and timber are supplied. The supply window is the part that surprises people: sea cargo from Jakarta runs four to fourteen days and free trade zone paperwork has to be in order before anything moves. We put that window into the schedule at quotation stage instead of discovering it halfway through.
The sequence itself is fixed. Free survey, drawing and itemised quote, 50 per cent deposit, fabrication in Batam Kota, second payment, installation, then a test heat-up with you standing in the room while we take it to 80 degrees and check the ELCB. Two-year structural warranty on handover.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a 2x2 m cabin take to reach 80 degrees?
Forty to fifty minutes from cold with a correctly sized 6 kW heater and a closed door. A controller with a timer, which most clients take, means the cabin is ready when you walk in from the ferry terminal rather than an hour later.
Can a dry sauna go on the first floor of a cluster house?
Usually yes. A four-person cabin with its bench frame and stones lands within normal residential floor loading, but we check the slab and the joist direction during the survey and, where needed, spread the load under the heater plinth.
Does the cabin need a floor drain?
Not for dry use. A tiled or treated floor with a slight fall towards the door is enough, since a dry sauna at 10-20 per cent humidity produces very little standing water. A steam room is a different matter and always gets a drain.
Do you build on Bintan as well?
Yes, on request. The crew crosses by ferry from Telaga Punggur and material follows as cargo, with the crossing shown as a separate line in the quote. Ask on the contact page and we will schedule a survey there.
