This is a finished two-person room, 1.5x1.2 m at 3.6 kW, that runs off an ordinary 5,500 VA supply with nothing extra to arrange. It suits renters, apartment owners and anyone who wants a sauna at home without turning it into a building project. When the prefab wins over a custom room
When the room isn't yours to alter, when the meter won't move up a tier, or when you simply need it working this month rather than next quarter. Expatriate managers renting in Nagoya and Jodoh choose a prefab cabin precisely because it unbolts and travels to the next apartment with them. Rental villas out toward Barelang order one because the season starts in a fortnight, not because they wouldn't prefer something bigger.
A custom room still wins where fit and capacity actually matter. Want four to six seats, a glazed front, or a cabin shaped around an awkward corner? Look at the custom dry sauna instead. The prefab exists so a home sauna doesn't stay out of reach for anyone unwilling to rebuild a bathroom to get one.
Why a Batam-built prefab beats a kit shipped from Java
A kit ordered online still crosses the same four to fourteen days of sea cargo, and then somebody local has to assemble it, wire it and stand behind the result. Ours skips that gap entirely - built in Batam Kota, delivered by small truck, and installed by the same people who cut the panels in the first place. Spare elements, stones and controllers sit in that same store, so a fault becomes a service visit rather than another fortnight waiting on a boat.
Free trade zone status does real work here too. Heater and timber both reach the island without the duty and tax layer that applies across the water in Java, which is exactly why a locally built cabin can hold its price even though most of what's inside it is imported.
3.6 kW: the number that keeps this simple
In practice a 3.6 kW heater draws around 5,500 VA, exactly the connection most cluster houses across Batam Centre, Sukajadi, Batu Aji and Sagulung already hold. No PLN Batam upgrade, no application, no waiting on a meter change. Older Tiban houses stuck at 2,200 VA are the one exception, and they usually end up going infrared instead.
What still gets added is a dedicated breaker with an ELCB and heat-resistant SiHF cable back to the consumer unit, since a heater sharing a ring with the air conditioning is exactly how breakers start nuisance-tripping. Ventilation matters just as much: a low supply vent behind the heater, an extract set high on the opposite wall.
Sizes, timber, and the ordering process itself
Cabins leave the workshop at 1.5x1.2 m for two, or 2x1.5 m if you want to squeeze in a third. Cladding is pinewood or Scandinavian spruce, benches are aspen, and the door is 8 mm tempered glass throughout. Delivery from the workshop takes one to two weeks, and installation happens the same day it arrives provided access is clear.

Frequently asked questions
A friend in Singapore paid far more for something similar - are we getting a lesser product for less money?
Not a lesser product, a smaller and simpler one. A Singapore quote usually prices in a fitted-out showroom and importer markup on a finished unit; ours is the same category of cabin built to order in our own workshop without that layer. Even the standard prefab uses proper insulation and a real heater brand rather than a bargain import.
Our building management wants the install done in a single afternoon while other residents aren't around - is that realistic?
For a two-person prefab, yes, provided the lift booking and loading slot are confirmed before the crew arrives rather than on the day. The panels come pre-cut and the wiring is straightforward, so carrying in and connecting rarely exceeds three or four hours once access is sorted.
We're leaving for Singapore for a month right after installation - does the cabin need running in first?
We run it up to temperature ourselves before handover, so there's no break-in period left for you to manage. Leaving it unused for a month afterwards does no harm at all; a cabin this size has no moisture load to speak of, so it simply waits for you exactly as it was switched off.
Could a small resort use a couple of prefab cabins as a stop-gap before a custom wellness area is built?
It's a sensible way to start, and we've done it more than once. Two prefab cabins go in within days rather than weeks, start earning their keep on the rate card immediately, and can later be repositioned once the custom wellness zone is finished.
