Sauna price in Batam: indicative figures for every format
A prefab box lands and starts working for IDR 15-35 million; a custom 2x2 m room runs IDR 60-120 million; a timber cold plunge with its chiller sits at IDR 45-90 million. Every number on this page is indicative, quoted in IDR, and already carries our own crew's installation plus the sea freight and free trade zone paperwork that gets material onto the island. What it does not carry is the PLN Batam upgrade, which stays the owner's to arrange and pay.

Buying from Singapore: the same table in SGD
Invoices are in rupiah. For owners who think in Singapore dollars, here are the main rows converted at an indicative rate of about IDR 12,400 per SGD; the real figure follows the rate on payment day.

Surveys run seven days a week, so Nongsa and Bintan villa owners can book one around a weekend crossing. Send the villa address and a few deck photos on WhatsApp and the itemised quote comes back in English.
What actually moves this number?
- Timber choice. Scandinavian spruce is the budget option, western red cedar sits mid-table, and thermowood costs the most while handling this island's humidity best of the three. Bench timber is aspen or abachi regardless of class.
- Size and heater output. A two-seat cabin starts at 3.6 kW; a club-sized room runs a pair of 10.5 kW units. Harvia, Sawo or Tylo, all with spares sitting on our Batam Kota shelves.
- How much glass. Every square metre of 8 mm tempered glass that replaces a timber panel costs more than the panel did and adds close to a kilowatt to the heater sizing.
- The sea crossing itself. Timber and heaters from Jakarta spend four to fourteen days at sea and clear free trade zone paperwork before they move again. Ordering in volume keeps this line small on your quote, but it never disappears entirely.
- The meter upgrade. Moving from 5,500 to 7,700 or 11,000 VA is billed by PLN Batam straight to the owner and never appears inside our number. The dedicated circuit, breaker and ELCB do appear inside it.
- Where the cabin actually sits. A Nongsa pool deck wants a roof and decking around it, a first-floor room in Sukajadi wants a proper extract route, and a Nagoya apartment wants building sign-off and a booked loading slot before anything moves in.
Running cost, format by format
PLN Batam runs its own tariff, separate from the national grid, at roughly IDR 1,274 per kWh for R-2 households sitting on 2,200-5,500 VA. The figures below use that rate and an ordinary household routine; a hotel or gym running eight to twelve hours a day gets its own calculation inside the quote rather than a share of this table.

Upkeep stays minor: bench oil annually, heater stones swapped every two to three years, the plunge filter rinsed every fortnight. Because spares sit on the island rather than on a boat, a service visit is measured in hours, not sailings.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a cabin cost more here than the same size in Jakarta?
Mostly it does not, once you compare like for like. A locally built cabin already carries the sea-freight and free trade zone cost of the timber and heater, which a Jakarta workshop would simply add on top of its own delivery to the ferry. Where Batam genuinely costs more is a job that specifically wants European hardware or a full glass wall - a material choice, not an island tax.
Do premium materials like thermowood or a full glass wall push the price toward Singapore rates?
They move the number, yes, by a predictable amount rather than a vague premium. A full glass wall in place of a timber panel and a wifi-enabled controller are the two upgrades that most often turn a mid-range quote into a top-of-range one; both are itemised so you can see what each line adds.
If our resort already has a backup generator, does that change the electrical cost in the quote?
It can trim the scope but rarely the total by much, since our part of the job - the dedicated circuit, the SiHF cable and the ELCB - stays the same whether the source is PLN Batam or a generator. What it removes is the PLN upgrade fee itself, which the resort would otherwise pay separately.
Is there a rush surcharge if we need the cabin finished before a specific arrival date?
There is no separate rush fee, but a fixed date needs to reach us at survey stage rather than after fabrication starts. We build to the sea-freight and workshop calendar already folded into the quote; moving that calendar once material is ordered is what actually costs time, not money.
