What moves the number up or down?
- Interior timber. Scandinavian spruce is the economical choice, western red cedar sits in the middle, thermowood is the most stable in island humidity and the dearest. Aspen or abachi benches in every class.
- Size and heater. From 3.6 kW for two people to a pair of 10.5 kW heaters in a club cabin. A Harvia heater, or a Sawo or Tylo, with spares held in Batam Kota.
- Glazing. Every square metre of 8 mm tempered glass replaces a timber panel at a higher rate and adds roughly a kilowatt to the heater calculation.
- Sea freight and the free trade zone. Material from Jakarta spends four to fourteen days at sea and needs its paperwork before it moves. We order in volume, so the share in your quote is small, but it is never nothing.
- Electricity. An upgrade from 5,500 to 7,700 or 11,000 VA is paid to PLN Batam by the owner and sits outside our quote. The dedicated circuit, breaker and ELCB are inside it.
- Where it goes. A pool deck in Nongsa needs a roof and decking, a first-floor room in Sukajadi needs an extract route, an apartment in Nagoya needs building permission and a loading slot.
What each format costs to run
PLN Batam is a separate utility from the national grid with its own tariff, around IDR 1,274 per kWh for R-2 households on 2,200-5,500 VA. The table below assumes that rate and ordinary household use; hotels and gyms running eight to twelve hours a day are calculated separately in the quote.
| Format | Use | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Dry sauna, 6-9 kW | 4-5 sessions a week, 90 minutes including heat-up | IDR 200,000-500,000 |
| Infrared cabin, 1.7-2.4 kW | 1-2 sessions a day, 45 minutes | IDR 100,000-250,000 |
| Steam room, 6-9 kW | 4-5 sessions a week, one hour | IDR 300,000-600,000 |
| Cold plunge, half to one HP chiller | holding 8-12 degrees around the clock | IDR 300,000-700,000 |
Maintenance is light: bench oil once a year, heater stones every two to three years, plunge filter rinsed fortnightly. Spares are stocked on the island, so a service call is measured in hours rather than in cargo sailings.
Frequently asked questions
Do these figures include shipping to the island?
Yes. Sea freight from Jakarta and the free trade zone paperwork are inside the quoted price, which is why we quote after the survey rather than from a catalogue. What sits outside is the PLN Batam upgrade fee and any building management charge.
Why is the range so wide for one size?
Because 2x2 m in spruce with a basic controller and 2x2 m in thermowood with a glass wall and app control are different rooms. The itemised quote shows every line, so you can see exactly which choices move the total.
How does payment work?
Fifty per cent on approval of the quote, which releases materials and books the workshop slot, and the balance before installation begins. Nothing is charged for the survey, the drawing or the quote itself.
Does the price include the PLN upgrade?
No. The upgrade to 7,700 or 11,000 VA is paid by the owner directly to PLN Batam. Our scope covers the dedicated circuit, the SiHF cable, the breaker and the ELCB from the consumer unit to the heater. Ask on the contact page if you want the load worked out first.

Tell us about the room and we will send a range
Give us the district or the name of the estate and what you are planning. A manager calls back the same day, in English, and books the free survey.
Send three photos and we will send a range back
A villa in Nongsa, a health club in Nagoya or an empty room in a Sukajadi cluster: three photos and your VA rating are enough for a first estimate.
